Thirty kilometers far from Chania at the southeast, just two kilometers off the National Highway to Rethymno , we can find Vrysses, a beautiful village with 850 permanent residents, built in a valley full of trees, luxuriant vegetation and running waters.
It is worth visiting the area, as the nearby typically Cretan small villages, usually not in the main destinations of tourists, give a more authentic image of the Cretan traditional living.
Just at the junction with the national road, there is the “Greek Kamara”, a Grecoromanian Bridge, with Venetian and Ottoman features.
Only a few rooms are available for renting in Vrysses, but eating here can be a real pleasure! Small taverns and cafes at the shade of the trees offer traditional Cretan dishes. The most interesting is that the village is known for the good quality of milk products, so you should definitely taste the gorgeous cheese and yoghurt.
Access to Vrysses is possible by public bus and rented or private car and motorbike.
