Georgioupoli

Situated 37 kilometers far from Chania, at the Southeast, Georghioupolis is a tourist resort, fully developed, with 515 permanent residents.

The village is found at an area full of trees and all green, by the mouth of the river Almyros. Just at this point it is located the small port of the village, hosting the small fishing boats of the locals.

At this place there are found the ruins of the ancient town of Amfimala.

It is worth seeing the river Almyros in a very scenic environment; walking up the river is an interesting activity and a good alternative to the burning heat of the beach.

In Georghioupolis you can find any kind of accommodation, from luxurious hotels to studios and rooms to let. However, in August it is advised to book a lodging, as the village is a very popular tourist destination.

Taverns, restaurants and cafes are numerous and you will not lack nightlife and amusement.

Access to the village is possible by public bus, running regularly and rented or private car and motorbike.
